Hola!
My name is Susan Rome-Turpin.

I have been speaking Spanish for more than 45 years.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California,

surrounded by a rich and vibrant Mexican-American culture. 

As a fashion designer in L.A., during my early 20's,

I quickly realized the need to master the Spanish language.

I requested a 3 month leave of absence to attend an

intensive language institute in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. 

I lived with a Mexican family, who spoke no English,

 studied Spanish 4-6 hours a day, taught English at night and

totally immersed myself in the language and culture.
I was approached by a local artisan and screen printer,

3 months magically turned into 4 years when we formed a

partnership and created “Rojas Y Rome”, a unique fashion line, 

catering to small resort boutiques throughout Mexico.
My love for the Spanish language, and the Mexican people,

not only enriched my life, but has opened doors to

experiences most people only dream about.

Currently I teach Spanish to Seniors. Some of my more

adventurous students have encouraged me to take

 them to Mexico...and beyond.

 I am thrilled to start a whole new chapter in my life.
